Huddersfield Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the longest-established amateur orchestras in the United Kingdom, is seeking to appoint a Principal Conductor to take up post early in our 2019-2020 season.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to direct the orchestra in music ranging from large-scale symphonic and choral works, through concerto and other solo performances, to works for smaller ensembles, as part of our commitment to promote a wide range of music to Kirklees audiences. Experience of and a commitment to presenting music to a family audience will also be of especial interest.
Huddersfield Philharmonic Orchestra is currently working towards its contribution to the 2023 Kirklees Year of Music and seeks a Principal Conductor who will share in this exciting time. They will work with the Board of Directors and as part of a smaller Orchestral Management Team, planning and delivering an annual season of up to 5 concerts, currently taking place in 2 local venues.
The successful candidate must be available for rehearsals which take place weekly in central Huddersfield, on Tuesday evenings between 7.30 and 9.30 pm.
